Manufacturing Scientist II

We are: A&P Inphatec, LLC is commercializing the first EPA-registered product to treat Pierce’s Disease in grapevines.

Our unique solution utilizes bacteriophages to target and kill the bacteria at the source of the problem – giving wine growers an organic and sustainable solution to a rising threat in California.

We want: A&P Inphatec, LLC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented applicant to join our Manufacturing team as a full-time Manufacturing Scientist .

This individual will be responsible for running the production line to meet yearly goals for our EPA-registered phage product, in addition to developing and optimizing our production methods to increase production yield and decrease costs.

The ideal candidate will work independently to develop and execute protocols while maintaining accurate manufacturing and process development records for regulatory compliance.

This individual must be detail oriented and able to communicate effectively in a small team of fellow scientists and technicians.

This position will report to the Director of Manufacturing and Technical Operations.

Responsibilities include: Working collaboratively to develop and execute multistep workflows to deliver high quality, cost effective phage products Maintaining accurate, real-time records of production activities – this work will sometimes support regulatory submissions and other times will be restricted by regulatory requirements Assist in assessing feasibility of new equipment and technologies for production workflows Taking the lead in designing, performing, and analyzing pilot scale and production scale upstream and downstream workflows with an eye towards scale up Troubleshooting and optimizing production scale workflows to improve yield, quality, and reproducibility Assisting in hand off of new workflows to other members of the team – this includes developing and validating batch production record templates and standard operating procedures Identifying and resolving issues in manufacturing or process development processes Assisting in maintaining facilities (including environmental control and equipment maintenance) and warehouse inventories Assisting in other tasks as assigned You have: PhD or equivalent experience in life sciences or related field, plus 4 years industry experience Expertise in handling microbes in an aseptic manner Expertise in handling naturally isolated microbes Familiarity with industrial bioprocessing and manufacturing Attention to detail and excellent record-keeping Familiarity with chemical and biological risks of working in a laboratory environment Great verbal and written communication skills, and are a self starter Excitement to work in a close-knit, fast paced working environment Ability to adapt to changing priorities Comfortable learning and working outside of your area of expertise Able to lift and move items up to 50 lbs You Want: A challenging environment that will push you to grow and improve professionally, every day Opportunities to learn new technologies and fields, along with the freedom to work on hard technology and real science Competitive salary 100% Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family Monthly gym stipend 401k matching Discounted wine Job Type: Full-time
