Human Resources Director

George T. Sanders Co. is Colorado’s largest independent supplier of plumbing and heating products. With 17 locations in Colorado and 2 locations in Wyoming. The corporate office is located in Wheat Ridge, CO.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Maintain and continuously update all human resources procedures and policies while promoting a safe and enjoyable work environment for our employees. Interact with company management using strong communication and people skills.

JOB DUTIES

  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate recruiting and interviewing for all management hires.
  • Develop and direct the new employee orientation and training programs.
  • Maintain and update job descriptions with requirements for all employees.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training and development; collaborate with branch and departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive compensation to ensure GTS attracts and retains top talent.
  • Create learning and development programs and initiatives to provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Provide support and guidance to staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary measures and terminations.
  • Manage, update, and recommend changes to the employee healthcare benefit plan working with third party vendors to keep the employee cost competitive in the marketplace while balancing the cost to the company.
  • Administer the company profit sharing and 401(k) plan while managing the third party record keeper, investment advisor and plan administrator.
  • Maintain and update the employee portal for employee communication.
  • Maintain a regular performance review, coaching and feedback process for all employees.
  • Ensure company compliance with all government requirements including ERISA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, FLSA and ACA.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Safeguard employee confidentiality and secure information to ensure trust with employees.
  • Maintain a safe workplace.
  • Administer all workers’ compensation claims.
  • Oversees daily workflow of the HR department.
  • Oversees payroll administration

Requirements:

CRITICAL SKILLS

  • 5+ years of human resources management experience with a related bachelor’s degree
  • Professionalism and a desire to help develop employees
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to work well with the GTS management team
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
  • Counseling employees and supervisors with the ability to resolve employee grievances
  • Conflict resolution
  • Self-motivated to implement new ideas without daily supervision and take initiative on HR projects
  • Proficient in MS Excel

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired
  • Master’s degree in a human resource management related fiel
